Poll: When do you decorate your Christmas tree?

Posted November 25, 2010

I saw my first Christmas tree tied to the top of a car last weekend. So I know some of you are gearing up for a weekend of tree decorating.

At my house, we wait until the last minute. We get a real tree. And those are on deep discount the week or so before Christmas. But we really wait until about a week or so before Christmas because that's how both my husband and I did things when we were kids.

And this year, we may just wait as long as we can. We have a very curious 15-month-old on our hands who will see the tree as a wonderful playground.

So how do you do things? Vote in our poll.

When will you decorate your Christmas tree?

Some families decorate the tree on Thanksgiving weekend. Others wait until Christmas Eve. When will you pull out the Christmas decorations?

Thanksgiving weekend
Dec. 1 to Dec. 15
Dec. 16 to Dec. 23
Christmas Eve
It's up all year!

We put our tree up on Black Friday. Gives us something to do other than shop and looking at all the ornaments our daughter has made (get ready, Sarah!)is a fun way to start the holiday season. And really, if I'm going to get 12 rubbermaid tubs down from the attic, I want to enjoy the decorations as long as I can!

We put up a Christmas tree after the fourth Sunday of Advent. Personal preparation is as important as anything else during the month of December.

my family put up a tree whenever the urge hit so hubby and I decided to make our own traditions. We usually put it up either Thanksgiving day or that Friday, depending on how we feel. This year, however, the daycare kids were having a fit so I put it up Tuesday night and they all decorated it on Wednesday. The top half is bare (as usual) and the bottom half is crammed but I love it

I tend to take my tree down on 12/25. Once it's over, I'm done

Growing up Catholic we were use to having Santa bring the tree, but my husband grew up having it put up the weekend after Thanksgiving. So we compermise and put it up a few weeks into Dec.

We go and get ours the Friday after Thanksgiving because we are both off work and our son is out of school. That way we can do it all together and enjoy it. We also take it down January 2nd.

Right now you can get by with the 15 month old but when the child gets older it will mean alot to have the Christmas tree up longer and break the tradition. It is a job to put up and take down so I want to enjoy it as long as I can... I do not put it up on Thanksgiving because it seems this Holiday is passed by in the stores you go from Halloween to Christmas...

I like to have mine up as long as possible because it's a lot of work to put up! (And a lot of work to take down)I try to get most of it up Thanksgiving weekend and despite the time and effort, I LOVE IT!! Today I'm at work putting up the tree for my office and listening to some Christmas music! Hope everybody had a wonderful Thanksgiving and will continue to have a safe and happy holiday season:-)
