Magic show will appeal to families with tweens, teens

Posted November 7, 2010

The ArtsCenter in Carrboro will have a magic show starting Thursday that should appeal to families with tweens and teens.

An Evening of Enchantments features local favorite Joshua Lozoff and LA-based magician Micah Cover. They team up for what is being called an "evening of mystery and astonishment."

Lozoff, who actually took his first magic class at The ArtsCenter back in the day, has since performed around the world, including the World's Fair in Japan in 2005. His one-man show, Joshua Lozoff: Beyond Belief, broke box office records by selling out every single performance

Cover, formerly of Raleigh, is a regular at the famous Magic Castle in Hollywood and will be sharing his ghost story-themed magic performance for the first time in North Carolina. He's performed Tarot readings and his mentalism act at such places as the Hollywood Cemetery and the Queen Mary.

According to the press release: "The show will be a very special opportunity to see two bright lights in the world of magic put their unique spin on the art. Joshua and Micah blur the lines between reality and illusion, using ordinary objects and extraordinary mental abilities to bring mystery and astonishment to everyone."

This is a two-act show that will run about two hours. And The ArtsCenter folks tell me it's probably best for kids ages 9 or 10 and up. Sounds like it might be a bit spooky.

The show runs 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 to Nov. 13 and 3 p.m. Nov. 14. Tickets are $15 and $7 for students in advance. They are $17 and $9 for students the day of the show.

Check The ArtsCenter's website for more information about the show,
