Playground Review: Carrboro's Anderson Community Park

Anderson Community Park sits on the outskirts of Carrboro. And that may be why it wasn't exactly teeming with people the other week when I was there.

Other parks in the town, such as Wilson Park off North Greensboro Street, are within walking distance of most parts of Carrboro and can be busier. But for one dad I spoke to when I was at Anderson several weeks ago, that's part of its charm. It's not so busy. Anderson Community Park Playground Review: Carrboro's Anderson Community Park

The 55-acre park has two playgrounds. One for ages 5 to 12 with several slides. Another for kids ages two to five, which is under a lot of shade.

The park also has a dog park, which the dad I spoke with said his kids love to sit outside of to watch the dogs run around; ball fields; and a pond where the town holds fishing rodeos every three months or so. There's a disc golf course too, which provides kids a great place to explore nature along a clearly marked path, says Robert Douglass, facilities supervisor.

Anderson is home to many of the town's summer camps. And there are special events there from time to time. Starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, spectators are welcome to watch a horseshoe tournament.

Stay up to date by checking Carrboro park department's website. And check the video to get a look at Anderson's playgrounds.

Anderson Community Park is on Hwy. 54 W about a quarter of a mile west of the 54 and Old Fayetteville Road intersection.

I think you mean "teeming", not "teaming"...
