There's no doubt that the Junior League of Raleigh's annual A Shopping SPREE! is a popular place for shoppers.

More than 11,000 turned out for the event last year, finding great gifts, clothing, decor and more among the event's 140 exhibitors.

But it's also a major fundraiser for the group, which has donated more than $1.6 million and more than 206,000 volunteer hours in the last decade to programs and projects in the community. They include SAFEchild, Brentwood Boys & Girls Club, StepUP Minstry, Helping Horse, AventWest Childrens' Mentoring and Heritage Park Community Center.

This year's sale runs Thursday through Sunday at the Raleigh Convention Center in downtown Raleigh. A $10 ticket will allow you to shop all four days of the event.

There also are some special shopping times where you can beat the crowds and shop in a stroller-free environment.

Early Morning Shopping is from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday. Tickets are $25 and include a light breakfast along with a four-day show general admission pass.

And the Weekend Wake-Up is from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15. Again, you can beat the crowds during these stroller-free shopping hours. Tickets include a SPREE! mug.

For details about the event, go to the Junior League's website.
And the ladies of Babiology in Raleigh tell me that they will be sponsoring the mother's nursing and changing area at the event. You'll find a private area for nursing and changing. Babiology will also have some free samples of Baby Silk by MD Mom's and a Lucky Jade gift basket drawing. The basket includes more than $100 worth of goodies, including a bunting bag, a hat and mitten set, and Lucky Jade diapers.
