Updated October 15, 2010

The Museum of Life and Science in Durham will host Spooky Saturday on Oct. 23.

The event will include crafts, stories, special programs and animal encounters across the museum. There will be mini science experiments and characters from books such as Harry Potter or the Twilight series walking around.

And I have three family four packs to give away!

What do you need to do to win?

Just answer this question in the comments below and I'll pick three winners from random:

Do you make or buy your Halloween costumes?

This contest ends at noon Oct. 15. Winners' usernames will be posted in this post by 9 p.m. Oct. 15 and they'll be emailed too. Winners must respond by 5 p.m. Oct. 18 or a runner-up will be selected. Good luck!

The winners are: renayelliott, returned54 and leanneedwards. Please check your email and get back to me!  Thanks to everybody who participated. (And I'm like many of you ... I buy, but I wish I could make them).

I buy my Halloween costumes. Wish I was talented enough to make them, but we go commercial.

We usually buy and then add some homemade touches like makeup and accessories. Last year we had Winnie the Pooh and a bumblebee. This year they are Mickey and Minnie Mouse :)

I buy sometime during the year to use as dressup fun and then use for Halloween as well.

We try and add one new item to an item we have in the house. My son was a cowboy last year - we used our own clothes and purchased the hat & boots. He still loves to wear them!

I usually buy at kmart when they have the 40% off week.I only usually spend 25 for all three kids since I reuse last year's costumes and buy fresh make-up and supplies each year to add to each costume. This year we are going as zoombies and mummies.

We always make our costumes. This year we are going as the "Cereal Killer Family"....

It truly depends on the year and how much there needs to be done. I've also done a combination of homemade and store bought.

    I've always sewed our costumes!
