I've been following Baby Loves Disco since I read about it in the New York Times or Washington Post or some big city newspaper several years ago.

For the past five years, the group has turned nightclubs into afternoon dance parties featuring real music spun and mixed by real DJs blending classic disco tunes from the '70s and '80s. It's for kids and their parents, who, lets face it, still want to feel like they're kind of cool.

I've always wondered when Baby Loves Disco would ever hit this market. And a month or so ago, when I got a press release from its publicist Beth Blenz-Clucas about its Baby Loves Disco Lemonade Tour 2010, I scanned the list and found no mention of a stop here. I know Beth from her work representing lots of amazing kids acts so I shot her an email asking her what the deal was.

A couple of days later, Baby Loves Disco co-founder Andy Blackman Hurwitz sent me an email saying that a date had opened up and he'd love to come here. All he needed was a venue. So  I got to work.

Fast forward a few weeks and I'm very excited to announce Baby Loves Disco is coming to the Triangle!

The tour, which is spreading awareness and raising money for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit devoted to finding a cure for all childhood cancers, will be here at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids (crawlers get in free). You must have a kid to enter. And it's geared toward six-month-olds to seven-year-olds and their adults.
