Just a quick note to share details about an event to raise money for the planned Sassafras All Children's Playground, which will replace the existing All Children's Playground at Laurel Hills Park in north Raleigh.

Hay Day at the Hills is 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 17 at Laurel Hills Park, 3808 Edwards Mill Rd. There will be hayrides, inflatables, games, children's activities, live entertainment, food vendors and more. There is no admission charge, but a fee will be associated with some of the activities. Click here for details.

Proceeds will benefit Sassafras. Playground project leaders are working to raise as much as $1 million to develop and build a playground for children of all abilities. It will replace the worn out All Children's Playground, which was built about 20 years ago. The city had planned to tear down All Children's in September, but fundraising has been slower than expected.

Read my earlier post on the project by clicking here. And stay tuned next Monday for more about Sassafras.
