Baby Steps: On the mend

The Bowleys are back in town!

I’ll admit, I took a little hiatus from thinking about trying to get pregnant for the week we were on vacation. I am also reading "A Few Good Eggs" by Julie Vargo and Maureen Regan – but I put it down in favor of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." I was sure to check the calendar before we left…

My husband is now recovering from surgery to repair that varicose vein. He’s lifting things and mowing the grass on the riding mower again. For the time being, we’re playing the waiting game until his next scheduled analysis in a couple months. Who knows – with any luck – maybe we’ll have some good news before then!

I am glad to see some of you exchanging information on the blog. One of the things Vargo and Regan talk about in their book is how different the process can be using an infertility doctor, rather than just an OBGYN. My experience is – with any doctor – there is something special about one who is willing to listen rather than just diagnose.

I’m interested to hear more…

What’s made the biggest difference for you with a doctor? Was there something that really turned you on to a particular doc? Or something that turned you off?

I had a problem with infertility & had a great doctor. He diagnosised the problem as PCOS (Polycystic Overy Synhdrome). He told me to lose some weight & put me on Glocophage to get my hormones under control. That was in February. We scheduled an appointment to go back for the next step in June. They were then going to give me fertility drugs. I lost about 30 pounds & took the medicine as prescribed. In June, before they could begin, they had to do a pregnancy test to make sure I was not pregnant. To our surprise, I was!! We were so excited. Our little boy is not 8 years old. My doctor was great & really listened to what was going on. I will never forget his name because he made our little miracle possible.
