WakeMed's Injury Prevention Team and Safe Kids Wake County will host a special event Thursday before a showing of Monsters vs. Aliens as part of Koka Booth Amphitheatre's Movies by Moonlight series in Cary.

Battling the Bad Guys starts at 7 p.m. before the movie. Through a variety of activities, kids can learn about water safety, bike safety, seat belt fit tests, tips on calling 911, combating germs at school and more. There will be tours of emergency trucks, face painters and mascots.

Movie tickets are $3 for adults. Kids 12 and under are free. The activities also are free. And a portion of the ticket sales go to pediatric safety programs at WakeMed.
