Consignment sale to offer child care
Next 2 New 4 Kids in Johnston County will offer something new this season: child care for shoppers.
Posted — UpdatedJessica White, the sale's owner, tells me it's something that she's always wanted as a shopper. She's been shopping, consigning or running a sale for the last decade or so.
And while children are welcome at the region's consignment sales, long-time shoppers know it's best to leave them at home as you wade through the racks of clothes and tables full of toys, books and other gear. White said she always had to find a babysitter or time her shopping trip with her husband's work schedule so he could take an hour off.
"It's definitely something I always wanted when I was a shopper and something I've wanted for a while," she said.
Child care won't be offered every hour of the sale, which runs Aug. 25 to Aug. 29. It will be available from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 26 when only sale volunteers can shop; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 27; 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 28; and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 29 when some items are half off. Child care is $3 per hour for kids 18 months to six years.
"I'm really excited about it," White says. "Our biggest thing is this is the first time. We don't know how it's going to go. If we get the word out, I think parents will utilize it."
