I’m excited to be a part of the Go Ask Mom team!

I’m sure everyone would agree — this parenting thing is hard. It’s the most rewarding part of my life — and the most challenging. To get the chance to share the experience with others, and get some helpful feedback, is a privilege.

So, an introduction: I live in Fayetteville. My husband and I have two wonderful kids — Emma is 6 and Eli is about to turn 5. I have worked for WRAL for 13 years, and am extremely lucky to now work for them part-time from home. This affords me the opportunity to be here with my children, but it also presents its own special challenges, especially when it comes to balancing home and work. The line is constantly blurred.

I grew up in Durham and have had many chances to return to the Triangle area. But I must say, Fayetteville has really grown on me. My husband’s family is from here, and we’ve made wonderful friends and have found a terrific church home. In my work for WRAL, I help gather news in Fayetteville and I anchor morning newscasts on 96.5 The Drive and Foxy 99. My husband Michael also works for WRAL—he’s the photographer for the Fayetteville bureau.

I look forward to sharing my parenting journey, and to hearing what you all have to say. As you’ll find, I need all the advice I can get!

Jennifer's food addiction memoir, "Designated Fat Girl," will come out Sept. 1 from Globe Pequot Press. Read more about Jennifer and her book on her website. Find her here on Go Ask Mom starting this week on Tuesdays.
