Too hot outside? Cool fun at home

Posted July 22, 2010

Temperatures are expected to climb near 100 degrees today and tomorrow, but WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner says it's going to feel a lot hotter than that.

And I'm guessing it's getting pretty hot in a few houses out there as the kids start climbing the walls ready for something new to do. If you're in the mood for an excursion, there are free movies, storytimes and lots more. Check my post from a few weeks ago for ideas.

But if you want to stay home, here are some ideas that might cool everybody down a little bit. Click on the links for more information.

Or you could tackle a major household project. That's what I'm doing: baby proofing the house now that the baby in the house can crawl. But that's not really much fun.

Please share your own ideas.

I actually went shopping at Southpoint, it's indoors and you spend lots of money but at least it's cool.

For all the northerners here, I call this extreme heat "A blizzard in July". (a blizzard in the NE pretty much means you are inside). Its always fun to watch old family movies, board games, clean out closets, etc. or escape to the movies, ice skating rink, bowling or museum.
