Raleigh offers a variety of nature programs for kids and adults every month and a couple caught my eye.
From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday July 15 and Tuesday Aug. 3, families are invited for leisurely walks around Durant Nature Park in north Raleigh. Park staff will be on hand to point out the dragonflies or birds or other nature activity. The fee is $1 per person and is open to all ages. Not all trails are stroller friendly so it's best to bring the little ones in a carrier. Pre-registration is required.
Contact Jeri or Karen at Durant Nature Park at 919-870-2871.
And Kids Nature Night will be held at Walnut Creek Wetland Center in southeast Raleigh from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday July 16. Plan a date night or girls night out and drop the kids off at the center for a nature walk, games, craft, which all will be related to that night's featured animated movie. Popcorn included. The program is open to kids ages 6 to 12 and the fee is $5.
