Teens sought for Wake Forest advisory board

Wake Forest is looking for area high school students who are interested in serving on its Youth Advisory Board.

Wake Forest is accepting applications from area high schoolers who are interested in serving on its youth advisory board for the 2010-11 school year.

High school students in grades 9 to 12 are eligible to serve on the board. It's comprised of nine members. Five must live in the town limits. Board members serve one-year terms and can be reappointed.

The group researchers issues of importance to young people and makes presentations to the board .It also holds special events for area youth.

Applications are available in the Town Clerk's office at Wake Forest's town hall. Click here for more information about the board. Completed applications must be delivered to or received by Wake Forest Town Clerk Deeda Harris no later than 5 p.m. June 30.

Wake Forest isn't the only local town with a youth board. Others include Raleigh, Cary, Durham and Chapel Hill. And there are others. Just check with your local parks and recreation department or town clerk to find out if your town offers one.
