Win tickets to museum's black light insect hunt

Published: 2010-06-01 12:00:00
Updated: 2010-06-01 12:00:00

The Museum of Life and Science stays open late a few times a year for its very popular Black Light Insect Hunt.

The next one is scheduled for this Saturday from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Museum staff will lure insects of all sizes to a white cloth with irresistible strong lights that are set up on the boardwalk. Visitors will see a variety of insects such as moths, beetles, and more. Experts will be on hand to answer question. This event is for ages three and older.

I've got three packs of four tickets to giveaway. This is a quick contest. All you need to do to enter is to answer the following question in the comments:

What do you do when you see a bug? Scream, run, hide, catch it, keep it as a pet ...

This contest ends at noon June 2 (like I said ... quick). Winners must respond by noon June 3 or a runner-up will be picked. Winners' names will be posted on the site.

Thanks for the clarification Sarah :) Congrats to those who won! Enjoy!!

Hi Rebecca! I email the winners to notify them that they have won. And then once I hear back from them, I write a separate blog post with their names in it and post it here on Go Ask Mom ... an example for another contest is the post headlined "Month of Mom: She won Michael Buble tickets."

I've emailed the winners for this contest so please check your inboxes and spam folders. karmstr9, lilypony and kimjenkins, I'm talking to you.

It says the "winners' names will be posted on the site." Is that THIS site (WRAL.com)? If so, will it be in the comments section of this story or elsewhere? OR is "the site" the Museums event site for the bug hunt linked to in this story? So sorry... I'm just confused ;) If I were to win, I would hate to have lost it because I wasn't looking in the right spot! :)

Depending on what type of bug it is, sometimes I put it back where "it should be" sometimes I scream and sometimes well let just say its it or me.

Well at this point I try to quietly ask my husband to take care of the bugs without the kids noticing. I am running out of tupperware from every creepy crawler that my kids find and want to catch and keep. They would love this!

I call my daughter...she decides what to do with it...

When I see a bug, I jump, get away or call for my husband to kill it. My daughter on the other hand prefers to investigate, examine and catch it!

If the bug is inside I will usually carry it outside and if the bug is outside I will call my 2 boys over and we will study its behavior together. We like to see how different "bugs" act in different enviroments.

I run and call my husband to kill it.

most bugs i usually point at and call my daughter over to see. as long as they aren't on me or in my house i'm really cool with most bugs.
