Cary's Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve and the Stevens Nature Center will be closed next Tuesday and Wednesday for parking lot resurfacing.

Both car and foot traffic won't be allowed. There will be no access to the preserve during the scheduled maintenance. If it rains, the resurfacing will be rescheduled and the preserve and nature center will be open for normal operating hours. The preserve and center are located at 2616 Kildaire Farm Rd. in Cary.

If all goes as planned, the park will reopen June 3.

If you haven't been, Hemlock Bluffs is a gorgeous park with about three miles of trails, which are pretty easy to navigate for young kids. The preserve features (as you may have guessed) Hemlock trees. And the vegetation is similar to what you might find in the mountains. It's certainly very shady, so a great spot to check out in the heat of the summer. Just bring some bug spray.

The Stevens Nature Center has some great exhibits. And there's even a little gift shop. Many of Cary's nature programs for kids and adults are based at Hemlock Bluffs and the nature center.
