Month of Mom: Win a week of summer camp

Posted May 14, 2010

So a week of summer camp for a kid might not exactly be a gift a mom could use. But then again, maybe it's exactly what every mom really needs.

The Museum of Life and Science has some wonderful and very popular camps in Durham and Chapel Hill each year. And they've been kind enough to let Go Ask Mom give away a week of camp at their Chapel Hill location. This is about a $275 value!

The camps are at Estes Hill Elementary School for four-year-olds to fifth graders. The weekly camps run form 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Click here for all the details.

This contest is part of our Month of Mom where we're celebrating moms all month.

What do you need to do to win? One or more of the following:

1. Answer the following question in the comments below: What's your favorite part about summer with your kids?

2. Follow @wralmoms on Twitter and retweet about the contest.

3. Subscribe to our email newsletter by clicking here.

This contest ends at noon May 20. The winner will be contacted and must respond by noon May 23 or a runner-up will be selected. The winner's name will be posted on the site.

I love spending time with my child period. Summers are very important because we get that one on one time with out the work and school days... Since she has been 2 years old we have taken a vacation together for a whole 7 days just the 2 of us and she is now 10 and we still do it. We may go to the beach or go on a cruise. I know one day this will come to an end when she gets older but I pray it continues forever. I look forward to going to different places with my child and continue the strong bond i have with her..

I love the "down time" with our family during the summer! Beach time, family time & chilling out time in summer with my kids are memories I love creating!

Summer means S=Spending quality time without being interrupted by busy days, U=Understanding the way my child feels about current issues in the world, M=Mending my child into the mindset that every minute of the day should be used to work towards reaching his goals, M=Making sure my child feels valued, E=Everyday grows sweeter as we learn more and more about each other, R=Refining our relationship after the hustle and bustle that we have gone through during the regular school year. The summer is a special time for my son and I. It is time that is well needed and is well spent preparing for the upcoming hard times.

My favorite part about summer is hanging out with my boys. Ethan 6 and Cooper 8. Life is so busy and chaotic during school and when summer vacation arrives we enjoy every second of it...... We do get a few lazy days, but generally our days are filled with visits to the parks, bike rides, museums, swimming, hiking, bon-fires in the back yard, camping and scout.... Actually you name it and we try to do it in the summer. We keep a wish list of activities throught out the year and then take turns choosing the next days activities.... So to answer the question, my favorite part about summer is the time my family has to spend together without the daily demands and stress of school and homework. I love to watch my boys be boys and allow them the freedom to explore thier environment in a relaxed and refreshed state.....

SUMMER! I love being able to spend more time with my children doing things we love and enjoy. The summer reading club at the library, camping, fishing, and visiting friends/relatives are among the most favorite activities we do together during the summer.

Oh gosh! What do I love about summer with my kids? Everything! But specifically, camping with them at cape hatteras (and my hubby); and just hanging out with them playing with toys, going to the museum/finding freebies to do; just having fun and playing. The sad part is I have to work all day; so its just finding the energy to "play" after work, and the weekends. Wish there was a contest for paid time off to play with your kids! Lottery isn't helping any....

Camping, camping, camping!!! Our (then 5,3, and 2 year olds) LOVED it ALL last summer! We've got the itch for this season and will be down at Jordan as soon as we think the water is warm enough --- they spend ALL day in the water!

My favorite part is going to the library with my 3 boys and everyone choosing books that they want to read on a rainy day rather than watching TV!
