ArtsCenter offers programs for toddlers to teens

For 35 years, the ArtsCenter in Carrboro has offered community arts programs and concerts for toddlers to teens to adults.

The ArtsCenter in Carrboro is celebrating its 35th anniversary this weekend with a big family-friendly event called the Cirques des Artes.

From noon to 4 p.m., you'll find all kinds of activities, including face painting, Jim Alberti's Flea Circus, crafts, a caricature artist, food and live music and performances. In the evening, there's a concert featuring the Triangle Jazz Orchestra and a silent auction.

But throughout the year, The ArtsCenter offers a variety of camps, classes, programs, performances and more for toddlers to teens. I've been a big fan of their SuperFun series, which runs during the school year and has brought in some top children's performers including Justin Roberts and Gustafer Yellowgold.

There's also the Youth Performing Arts Conservatory, which is designed to offer students a well-rounded performing arts education and includes summer camps for teens. And ArtsCamp offers programs for first to seventh graders. (There are still spots left if you're looking for summer programs).
