Marbles Kids Museum will start staying open until 8 p.m. on the first Friday of every month as part of downtown Raleigh's popular First Friday tradition.

The museum's IMAX Theatre has been participating in First Fridays for some time now. Now the museum will opens its doors a little later as well.

Some might think of First Fridays as attracting a more adult crowd. And in some cases, you'd be right. But plenty of families come out for the monthly event. You'll also find gallery openings, restaurant specials and other museums staying open late - the state natural science and history museums and the Raleigh City Museum.
Click here for Friday's IMAX schedule. No big special events are planned for this Friday in the museum. I'm told Marbles staff is just testing the waters this time. But on June 4, expect to see some special Shrek-themed activities to go along with "Shrek Forever After: An IMAX 3D Experience," which opens May 22. Marbles members also will be able to attend a Member Picnic & Play that evening as well.
And if you're wondering what to do this weekend for Mother's Day, Marbles might have you covered. Check their weekend of activities.
