Baby simplified goal for Apex store

Krista Cathey opened her GreenPea Baby store, in part, because she couldn't find what she wanted for her own three kids.
Cathey, who sells products online and opened a bricks-and-mortar store in downtown Apex a year ago, features a variety of cloth diapers; BPA- and phthalate-free gear; and nursery furnishings, strollers and bedding that you won't find elsewhere in the Triangle. She also offers free cloth diapering classes about every three weeks.
The store recently went through what Cathey calls the "Baby Simplified" program, which aims to identify the best baby products to stock in the store. Products must meet the store's "must-have" features, rate highly by non-biased product review companies and, when applicable, pass the store's own review panel.
The goal, Cathey told me, is to avoid that frustration you might have encountered at big box stores when you consider all 72 different kinds of sippy cups/teethers/fill-in-the-blanks and wonder which one is best.
It's worth noting that she is very much involved in the upcoming Mom's Night Out on May 6 at the Embassy Suites in Cary. There will be lots of giveaways, including a variety of items from GreenPea Baby. Get your tickets Monday if you want to go.
