Month of Mom: Win tickets to Riverdance!

Published: 2010-04-28 13:23:00
Updated: 2010-05-03 14:59:02

Mother's Day is in less than two weeks.

But Go Ask Mom thinks moms should be celebrated for more than a day. We're thinking an entire month!

So we're going to have a whole bunch of giveaways over the next month. There will be more details on Monday. But we're talking treats;  expert bra fittings and bras; free tickets to Beauty and the Beast at the Durham Performing Arts Center; and a lot more.

But we're going to start off with two family four packs of tickets to the 2 p.m. Mother's Day (that's May 9) performance of Riverdance at the Progress Energy Center for Performing Arts' Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.

The popular show featuring Irish music, song and dance is on its farewell tour. Eight performances are scheduled from May 4 to May 9.

What do you need to do to win one of the two family four packs? The usual here on Go Ask Mom. Do one or all of the following:

1. Subscribe to our weekday newsletter by clicking here.

2. Follow @wralmoms on Twitter and retweet about the contest.

3. Share in the comments below what the best parenting advice is that you've ever received as a mom.

This contest ends at noon May 3. Winners will be picked from random and must accept the prize by 5 p.m. May 4 or a runner-up will be chosen. Winners names will be announced on the website.

Were the winners for this ever posted anywhere? I never saw anything, and was anxiously waiting to win, I've always wanted to see them! Guess I didn't though, since the show is tomorrow :) Congrats to whoever did!

Best parenting advice.....every child is different so love them for their differences and plan to discipline them differently too. What works for one typically won't work for the other.

Have patience and count to 10.I count to 20.

I'm pregnant with my first child and everyone has lots of advice! My favorite has been to make sure I instill the importance of God and family. Those are the two things that will get you through life.

As my son turned into a teenager and has become the genius that all teenagers turn into--she told me to carefully pick my battles with him. We use to fight over everything now I have become more laid back and fight the important battles. We are having less fights and he is opening up to me more and more plus when I do set me foot down about something he has started to listern (not without trying to fight and push back--but oveall vistory for MOM). Thanks mom!!

Enjoy them while they're young, they don't stay that way long!

That when you're angry to give yourself a time-out to cool down before trying to handle a problem. Which is very hard to do.

Always remember to show that you love your spouse in front of your childen. If there's discord in the family, the child will feel it and blame themselves so make sure to reassure them that they did nothing wrong.

Always present a united front with your husband. Kids need to know that mom and dad are in this together. They seem to just naturally try to divide and conquer.

BE POSITIVE - DON'T BE NEGATIVE AROUND YOUR CHILDREN - LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT - MEET EVERY CHALLENGE HEAD ON! BE YOURSELF. YOU ARE ONE OF GOD'S CREATION.
