Strawberry farm list updated

Posted April 28, 2010

I've learned a few things about strawberries in the last few days.

Many of you know where THE VERY BEST STRAWBERRIES IN THE STATE are (emphasis not mine).

There are especially a lot of fans of Vollmer's Farm in Bunn and Porter Farms and Nursery (both the Willow Spring and Raleigh locations). If you have other favorites, please share in the comments.

And many of you are wondering where all the farms are in Cumberland County. I am too! I've added two places - McNeills Strawberry Farm and West Produce (a farm stand) - to get strawberries in Cumberland. Let me know if any of you know of any more.

Thank you to everybody who has sent in the emails listing their favorite farms. I'm happy to add more to the list.

There are now 50 farms on there.

Here's the updated, sortable list.

Happy picking!

Anyone know if any of these are organic farms?

Thank you readers! I've just added several more farms to the list, including one in Cumberland County - Bunce Brothers. And there's some discussion over on WRAL's facebook page too: http://www.facebook.com/WRALTV

Phillips Farm in Carpenter (Cary) - they have the biggest berries I've seen in years and they are super sweet- still lots to pick from too!
