Carrboro market offers seedlings for kids, new program
Carrboro Farmers' Market will hold its fifth annual kid's seedling event this Saturday.

Over the last six weeks, the market's farmers have grown the plants especially for the kids. Fifth Season Gardening Company will provide organic potting soil in the pots. And Kidzu Children's Museum will offer a seedling-themed kids activity behind the market's gazebo.
The seedlings are available starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
And in related market news, you'll be able to start using your credit and debit cards at the market starting May 1. Carrboro Farmers' Market will launch the Common Currency Program which will allow customers to use their credit, debit or EBT cards to buy wooden tokens called "Truck Bucks," which can be used like cash throughout the market. (EBT cards replace paper food stamps and checks).
As an incentive to shoppers using food stamp benefits, for every $20 they spend, they will receive $20 in free market dollars to spend while supplies last.
