Help a Mom: Summer camps for the under-5 set

Posted April 12, 2010

I've written a bit about summer camps. Click here for the post from last week where readers also shared some of their favorites. And Carolina Parent has a list of camps to get you started as well.

But you'll find most of those camps are for grade-schoolers and up. Marbles Kids Museum, YMCA of the Triangle and some of the municipal parks departments are exceptions. But a mom emailed me over the weekend asking for help as she searches for care for her own child.

Katherine wrote me: "I have the most difficulty finding good summer care for my younger-than-kindergarten child."

Can you help?

If in Raleigh/Wake County try Parks and Recreation. They hav a camp (Pre X-Press Camp) for 5 year olds. It is an all day camp w/ drop off at 7:30 and a 6:00 pick up time for only $75 a week. Parks and Rec also offer many 1/2 day camps for the summer.
