Kidcycle, a new children's consignment sale in Durham, opens this Saturday and Sunday.

Michelle Old, a Durham mom of two, and Kyla Wallace, a mom of three in Hillsborough, are behind the sale, which features children's toys, clothes and gear plus maternity clothes. Compared to Wake County, there aren't that many sales in Durham and Orange counties so I'm guessing a new sale is good news for frugal shoppers there.

And for those of you who mean to hit a sale this spring, but haven't yet, Kidcycle is one of the last of the season. Click here for the full list.

Two offerings make Kidcycle stand out from most.

There's the Diaper Drop, where shoppers are encouraged to drop off the leftover diapers their kids are too big for. The diapers will be donated to needy families.

And then there's Dollar Day from 4 to 7 p.m. April 21. Items that haven't sold and weren't picked up buy their consignor are only $1. All of the day's proceeds will go to Welcome Baby in Durham.

Learn more about the sale from Kyla, who met me (sort of) half way between Hillsborough and Raleigh at Lake Crabtree County Park in Morrisville. (And thank you to both of our babies for being mostly patient with us).
