Interact, the nonprofit group that has helped thousands of victims of domestic violence in Wake County, has scheduled a slate of events this month to mark Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The goal is to highlight the prevalence of sexual violence in our community.

This month's campaign includes Thursday's Diva Dash where college students will sprint 50 yards in high heels and the Rock for Kids concert at Foster's in Cameron Village.

There's a free screening of "Playground," a documentary that explores the world of child sex trafficking. The movie, whose executive producers included George Clooney and Steven Soderberg, is scheduled for April 15. Seating is limited so be sure to register by calling 919-828-7501, ext. 217

And on April 22, Interact will hold a candlelight vigil and mark International Denim Day (so called after an Italian woman's rapist was found not guilty because the jeans she wore were so tight, a judge said he couldn't have removed them himself. Women in the Italian legislature protested the decision by wearing jeans).
