With spring break coming up, it's a good bet that many of you with high school juniors in the house will be making the journey to colleges across our state and beyond.

Carolina Parent is here to help. The magazine released its seventh annual college guide, which you can find at nccollegeguide.com, this month. The interactive guide includes links to the websites of more than 100 colleges (public, private and two year) in North Carolina, along with details about financial aid, virtual tours and more.

You'll find tips on everything from what questions to ask when you're making those visits to how to cover the college bill to what your child will need in his college dorm room.

It's a great starting place for high schoolers and for the rest of us who want to get our minds around what the future may hold. And for those of us with a few years before college starts to loom, the magazine is planning an article for April's issue on saving for college, including details on 529 saving plans.

The magazine also is holding a 2010 N.C. College Guide contest and is hoping to hear from people who have survived the college application process. Contest entries accepted through April 30. Click here for details.

I feel like I need to end this post by saying "good luck!"
