Stroller Strides

Mom opens local Stroller Strides program

Stroller Strides will kick off the opening of its mom/baby stroller workout program with a special event at 9:30 a.m. March 10 at Crowder Park in Apex.

Jen Kedrowski is the local franchise owner and mom of one who is launching Stroller Strides here. It's said to be the largest and fastest growing mom and baby workout program in the country with workouts for moms, songs and entertainment for babies, along with a playgroup and community service activities. You may have heard of Stroller Strides before. There was a franchise in North Raleigh a year or two ago, but Jen tells me it is no longer active.

The grand opening event had been scheduled for this week, but was postponed because of the weather. The event is free. You'll be able to check out what all Jen has to offer and test drive one of her workout programs. There will also be toys and bubbles for kids and some giveaways.

Jen is a nurse with an MBA, who has always dreamed of owning her own business.

"I heard of the brand and looked on the website and there weren't any classes nearby," she told me. "I was really surprised. This is a great mommy-owned business. Something you can do part-time."

What's best, you can bring your own child with you to work, she said.

The workouts will be Monday through Thursday at either Crowder Park or Lake Johnson Park in Raleigh. In May, she'll launch Saturday workouts for working moms. There are a variety of payment options and packages. Check the website for details.

Jen said you don't need a jogging stroller to complete the workout (though umbrella strollers don't do so well). It's for all levels ... which is a good thing because I'm very much out of shape and will be checking out the grand opening and writing about it. Stay tuned next week for more.

Or just join Jen on Wednesday.
