Baby bracelets, pacifier clips recalled

Posted February 17, 2010

About 900 baby bracelets and pacifier clips made by a Utah-based company were recalled because of elevated levels of lead, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Wednesday.

The recalled bracelets and clips were made by Allreds Design, which does business as Hidden Hollow Beads. The bracelets were sold in sizes 0 to 6 months, 1 to 4 years and 4 to 8 years. Both the bracelets and the clips have crystal and plastic beads in various colors with a metal clasp. They were sold at resale stores and other consignment retailers across the country from June 2008 to December 2008.

There was one report of a 10-month-old child who was treated by a doctor for high levels of lead.

Aside from the lead issue, who would give something that's an obvious choking hazard to a baby!? That company can't guarantee that the bracelets will NEVER break, allowing babies to swallow beads. Wait until the child is at least 3 to give her jewelry with small parts!
