The Carolina Ballet is catering to little kids who love Cinderella.

The ballet company will present its interpretation of the classic fairy tale Cinderella starting this Thursday and is offering a special show aimed at kids and families.

The show at the Fletcher Opera Theatre at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh runs through March 7 and includes choreography by Artistic Director Robert Weiss and an original score and live music by Cary composer Karl Moraski. And I'm guessing the kids also will really love the scenery and gorgeous costumes.

Cinderella, the ballet, is just over an hour long. Most presentations are followed by an intermission and four more short, more sophisticated ballets.

But a special 11 a.m. March 6 presentation features just Cinderella. I'm told it's perfect for kids ages 6 and up who love ballet and the story of Cinderella. And kids will get to see kids on stage. Twelve young dancers will be on stage dancing as the numbers on the all-important clock in the Cinderella story.

Tickets for all performances, which are selling fast, range from $18 to $56. Tickets are discounted if you get them as part of the ballet's Family Series Package (which gets you in to Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty in May).
