Thanks for checking out GoAskMom.com!

Who am I? I'm the mom of two girls ... a toddler and a kindergartner. I grew up in upstate New York, once considered playing flute professionally, love to put ketchup on my mac and cheese, and, one day, plan to see the Northern Lights in Norway.

You might recognize my name. For more than a decade, I was a reporter for The News & Observer. I wrote a column about family-friendly events for nearly three years and ran the newspaper's website for moms, TriangleMom2Mom. I left the job after the birth of my second daughter. And I feel extraordinarily lucky that WRAL hired me a few months later for a job that I can do from home ... or the playground.

What I hope to do is make your journey through motherhood in the Triangle a little easier and a little more fun. I'll search deep inside the Triangle for the best there is for kids to see and do.

I'll profile local moms in the community on Monday, write about family-friendly weekend activities on Thursday, and introduce you to some great Triangle destinations that you may never have heard about on Friday.

We have a great team of bloggers too.

WRAL reporter Amanda Lamb, the author of several books including her own musings on motherhood called "Smotherhood," will write about her mom adventures on Mondays.

The good folks at Duke Medicine, our sponsor, will provide up-to-date medical information every Tuesday.

Find WRAL-TV's Kathy Hanrahan on Wednesdays as she writes about her efforts to lose weight and get in shape before she and her husband begin the journey to parenthood. You also will find a rotating group of community bloggers every Wednesday, including a mom of teens and a dad who shares his own views on parenting.

WRAL-FM's Lynda Loveland, part of the radio station's popular morning crew and a former WRAL-TV anchor, will write about life with her three children every Thursday.

On Fridays, Christine Bowley, also of WRAL, is chronicling her journey as she and her husband struggle with infertility.

And every week, you'll find information about fun contests, news about events across the Triangle and databases listing summer camps, children's consignment sales, holiday events and much more.

Please join us. Read. Comment. Have fun!

And please let me know what you think. Send me an e-mail with your ideas.
