MomsRising holds moms' night out event this week to ask can we 'have it all'

Can moms really "have it all?" MomsRising's North Carolina chapter will host a moms' night out in Cary next Tuesday to talk about that age-old question, which made headlines most recently after this article in The Atlantic.

The group, which lobbies for issues such as paid family leave, paid sick days and other issues, invites moms for appetizers and discussion. It's at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Unwine'd, 201 W. Chatham St., in Cary.

MomsRising will provide the appetizers as the group socializes for the first 45 minutes. Then they'll talk about the challenges women face as they strive to be a good parent and good employee. The N.C. Justice Center will be there to collect stories from anybody who wants to share their experience trying to balance work and family responsibilities.

My thoughts exactly, Americaneel. I get so sick of these women who just gotta have 2, 3, 4 kids AND who also have to work. What did they THINK that would do to their lives? Now, what, employers are supposed to pay them what they think they deserve so they can "have it all"?

Here's an idea. Sleep in that bed you made. Don't try to make more paid time off a "women's issue" because it isn't. It's a problem that parents have to solve for themselves. It isn't your employer's responsibility, if you are lucky enough to have a job, to pay you enough to balance your budget, it's up to you to live within your means. You're paid what you're worth, not what you want. If you disagree you are more than free to find someone else to pay you for your contributions.

Oh, and thanks for providing employers another reason not to hire women.
