Help a Mom: Favorite gymnastics programs

Published: 2012-09-18 20:45:00

Over the next month or so, I'll be putting together a database of programs for kids across the region. I'm talking about sports programs, art classes, music lessons and other extracurricular activities.

So, every once in a while, I'll be asking for your help to compile the list as part of our Help a Mom segment.

Today, I'd love to hear about gymnastics programs. Do you have a favorite gymnastics program in the region? Please share so I can include it on the list!

Do you have a favorite? Please share your tips in the comments box below. (If you don't see the comments box below, you'll need to log in or sign up for a WRAL account. You can do that by going to the top of the page and clicking on either "log in" or "register").

Help a Mom features questions from readers every Wednesday. If you have a question that you'd like to ask Go Ask Mom readers, click here to email it to me.

TAG (Team Attraction Gymnastics) in Apex next to Home Depot is amazing! Separate sides of the gym for rec and team kids and you can sit right next to the practice areas and hear the feedback your child is receiving. Coaches are top notch and expectations are high for the team kids but the kids in turn respond well to the feedback and fun methods the coaches use to teach them. The kids always score well in competitions. Gym is easy to get to, has plenty of parking and is expanding soon to add more space to the rec area in the front. Also the coaches are honest with the kids about whether they are ready to move up to the next level or not, instead of bending to pressure by the parents to always move their child up. Coaches provide feedback and really listen to concerns or questions you may have. Owners are totally accessible too and coach the children as well. They also have a TOPS program that is open to any team child who wants to benefit from the extra conditioning and flexibility tr

I recommend Morgan's Gymnastics in Smithfield. They start at 18 months and go up through the Competitive Level Teams. The focus is on fun while learning gymnastics and social skills. My daughter started at 8 years through graduation at level 10. The ability to focus, strive to master skills, and build confidence rolled over into school, our community, and our church. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Morgan's.

Team Attraction Gymnastics (TAG) in Apex is the best! My daughter has been with these coaches for 6 years (back to the days at Impact) We wouldn't change a thing! Great facility with professional, caring and encouraging coaches.

I second Sonshine Gymnastics in Holly Springs! My daughter is on the competitive team there after switching from another area gym in the Spring. She has improved greatly in just a few months at Sonshine & her scores at the most recent meet (last weekend) support that. We drive further & pay a little more in tuition, but it is well worth it for the high quality coaching staff & facility. Their program has a strong emphasis on excellence as well as fun for all their levels. They offer programs for both girls & boys. In all of the rec classes I've observed, the kids are having fun, but they aren't 'running wild'. At the younger ages, they actually work on skills & strength building that are age appropriate & that will serve them well if they continue in gymnastics or move to another sport. We checked out several other gyms before switching & are convinced that they are the best gym in the area for our needs.

Jimmy Jones Jumpin' Jimnastics

I would like more info on Bull City Gymnastics.

I second TAG in Apex. My daughter is in the 3-5 Rubies class (she was 2.5 when she started) and loves the teachers. The teachers do alternate at times between the classes-i found that confusing at first, espeically for a 2.5 year-old, but we have gotten used to all of them now.

Bull City Gymnastics in Durham

My daughter attends Morgan's Gymnastics in Smithfield. So far so good!

We love TAG in apex, right next to Home Depot. Its a wonderful clean newer facility. very well run and organized from what I've seen so far. They offer a lot more one on one instruction than other places we've been, and again the facility and equipment are worlds above other older facilities. I like the online registration too. Check them all out, and see which *feel* you like best and you'll find a good fit for your child. Most places offer trial classes. Good Luck!! :) http://www.teamattractiongymnastics.com/
