Training for Baby: Nesting

With about a month left until my due date, I am fighting what I like to call "pregnant lady crazies." One minute, I am so anxious to meet my little man. The next, I am hoping he waits until his estimated arrival time because I am not nearly ready.

And the cravings also are amplified. The other night all I wanted was chocolate cake. My loving husband rushed to a nearby restaurant where we absolutely love the chocolate cake and got us a slice to share.

After eating the cake, all my belly did was move. I imagine our baby was singing that famous line from one of Bill Cosby's stand-up routines, "Dad is great. He gives me chocolate cake."

Chocolate cake aside, I have also noticed a strong urge to prepare for the baby. My nesting phase has begun.

My husband came downstairs on Saturday morning to find me trying to build the Snap N' Go Stroller. I had the car seat box open, but it was too heavy for me to lift out of the box. He patiently walked over and asked what I was doing. He then built the stroller within minutes.

When he left to grab us some lunch a few hours later, I figured out a way of getting the car seat out of the box. I turned the box on its side and slid the seat out. Then, I realized I had no idea how to put it onto the stroller. Before I could get the instructions out for the stroller, my husband got home and quickly figured out what to do.

He soon installed the car seat in my car and helped me put away some of the baby gifts we have gotten over the past few weeks. I was beginning to think that he was enjoying this nesting thing too.

Then, we had to deal with the dreaded Pack 'N Play.

These soft cribs look easy to assemble at the store, then you get it out of the box and are confronted with tons of metal rods, clips and attachments. It took him nearly two hours to get this thing fully built and we still had two rods left. We can't figure out where they go and we have read the instructions about five times.

I can't imagine the day we need to pack it up because our poor little boy won't be playing anytime soon if we need to reassemble it!
