Chapel Hill playground to reopen Friday

Some good news for Chapel Hill parents and kids: Unless work crews encounter something unexpected, the town's popular Community Center Park playground will reopen at noon, Friday, town officials say.

The playground on South Estes Drive closed earlier this month for a major renovation project, which included taking out the old poured-in-place surfacing and replacing it with new poured-in-place surfacing.

There will be some other work at the park for the next several months, but kids will still be able to play on the equipment.
