City announces new weekend parking options at Pullen Park

Updated: 2012-07-05 21:31:47

In an effort to ease the crowded weekend parking situation at Pullen Park, the city announced some new parking options for visitors Thursday.

Starting Saturday, park patrons can park across the street at the Governor Morehead School, 301 Ashe Ave. Overflow parking is available at the school from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the weekends.

Visitors also can still park at the Cates Avenue Parking Deck on N.C. State's campus on the weekends. You can use the pedestrian walkways from the deck to get to Pullen.

And, during the week, overflow parking is available at the Hunt Drive Soccer Fields on the Dorothea Dix campus until 5 p.m.

Don't park along Western Boulevard at any time. City code doesn't allow it.

Pullen Park's carousel, kiddie train and boats currently are open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The park's grounds and playground are open from dawn to dusk.

Good news!! Maybe this will help solve the problem of the cars on the roads around the park- it was becoming incresingly dangerous just to try and pull onto Western Blvd or use the greenway trail next to the road because so many cars were illegally parked there- BUNCH of new "no parking" signs have gone up in the area last week.
