Durham library plans youth jazz workshop series

The Stanford L. Warren Library in Durham will host a youth jazz workshop series on July 2 and July 9 for kids ages 8 to 14.

The Stanford L. Warren Library in Durham will host a youth jazz workshop series on July 2 and July 9 for kids ages 8 to 14.

The program, a partnership with Durham County Library, the Triangle Jazz Society and Target, offers interactive workshops for kids.

Local jazz vocalist and Durham Arts Council CAPS artist Adia Ledbetter will lead each workshop and will be accompanied by a jazz trio or quartet of professional musicians. Students will learn about jazz history and see live demonstrations of musical styles and genres. Refreshments will be served.

The workshops are 2 p.m., July 2 and July 9. They are free, but pre-registration is required. For more information, contact Heather Cunningham at 919-560-0270. The Stanford Warren Library is at 1201 Fayetteville St., Durham.
