I mentioned this parade in my Father's Day weekend activities post a few weeks ago, but I wanted to call it out again because I know it will be a major attraction for many of us with little ones this weekend.

The Raleigh Fire Department is celebrating its 100th anniversary on Saturday with a day of special activities starting with a Fire Truck Parade at 10 a.m. The line-up includes modern and antique equipment, pipe bands, current firefighters and Raleigh Fire Department retirees.

The parade starts on Hillsborough Street at St. Mary's Street and goes east to the State Capitol. It turns south at Salisbury Street, left on Morgan and right onto Fayetteville Street. It ends at Lenoir Street.

After the parade, you'll find more activities just north of the Progress Energy Center for Performing Arts. They include a kid's zone with activities and displays, fire equipment on display, firefighter challenges and a huge birthday cake.
