The Alexander Family YMCA in Raleigh will hold a clinic just for moms of kids who play basketball.

The Sports Mom 101 Clinic will help moms develop a fundamental understanding of the game. Participants will learn a working vocabulary of the rules and learn some drills to practice and play with their child.

It's 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., June 16, June 23 and June 30. The program is free and originally planned for moms with elementary school aged children, though moms with older kids will find it useful too, I'm told. Free childcare also is provided for kids 6 weeks to fifth grade. YMCA members and nonmembers are welcome.

Registration is required by Friday, June 15, at the Alexander Family YMCA Welcome Center, 1603 Hillsborough St. Click here for details.
