Durham Parks and Recreation has a new summer concert and movie series this summer called "Rock the Park."

The series will include free concerts and movies at different parks around Durham. If you go, be sure to bring your own lawn chair or blanket. Food vendors will be on site.

The series begins with a concert from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., June 9, at Durham Central Park, 502 Foster St., with a performance by jazz artist Kim Arrington.

Here's the rest of the schedule:

Saturday, July 7: Veeda (R&B/Old Skool) at Old Farm Road Park, 7 Hedgerow Place, Durham

Saturday, August 4: Crucial Fiya (Reggae) at Rock Quarry Park, 701 Stadium Dr., Durham

Movies (scheduled from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.)

I've added the movies to Go Ask Mom's free and cheap summer movie database.
