Durham Parks and Recreation has a new summer concert and movie series this summer called "Rock the Park."
The series will include free concerts and movies at different parks around Durham. If you go, be sure to bring your own lawn chair or blanket. Food vendors will be on site.
The series begins with a concert from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., June 9, at Durham Central Park, 502 Foster St., with a performance by jazz artist Kim Arrington.

Saturday, July 7: Veeda (R&B/Old Skool) at Old Farm Road Park, 7 Hedgerow Place, Durham
Saturday, August 4: Crucial Fiya (Reggae) at Rock Quarry Park, 701 Stadium Dr., Durham
Movies (scheduled from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.)
Saturday, June 23: The Tooth Fairy (PG), Forest Hills Park, 1639 University Dr., Durham
Saturday, July 21: Jumper (PG-13), Duke Park, 106 W. Knox St., Durham
Saturday, August 18: Rio (G), Southern Boundaries Park, 100 Third Fork Dr., Durham
