Praririe Ridge Ecostation plans walks, enhances nature play area
Prairie Ridge Ecostation, part of the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, is planning another series of its Walk Through the Seasons hikes.

The 90-minute programs designed for all ages include a one-mile walk with a museum naturalist. It's a great place for kids to explore and includes some cooler areas such as a creek and the tree-covered nature play area with a dirt pile and fossils. There's also the newly enhanced gnome and fairy home building area with more construction materials for the kids and some big logs for sitting on and building around.
The Walk Through the Seasons are 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 5; Thursday, June 21; Tuesday, July 10; Tuesday, July 24.
All trails are natural with some uneven surfaces and small hills. You'll want to bring an off-road or jogging stroller if you plan to push the kids.

Prairie Ridge is open 9 a.m .to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and noon to 4:30 p.m., Sunday.
