Spring Cleaning: What causes clutter

Published: 2012-04-10 20:45:00
Updated: 2012-04-10 20:45:00

There's all kinds of clutter - clutter in our minds as we fret over our families and lives and clutter on the kitchen table as paperwork piles up.

Local moms and business owners Geralin Thomas of Metropolitan Organizing (and a regular on A&E's Hoarders), and Dr. Susan Orenstein of Orenstein Solutions talk about both kinds in the beginning of our series on decluttering our lives today.

For their tips and advice, watch the video.

Find out more about Thomas, who I profiled this week, on her website and Orenstein on her website where you can find more information from Orenstein and Thomas. Come back next Wednesday for another tip.

Great question! I think we may address some of your question in a future segment in a couple of weeks. My house is about the same size as yours and we just went through a massive effort to get rid of all kinds of stuff and have to admit that it felt absolutely wonderful :) ... for what it's worth.

Sarah

I'd love to figure out how you decide when you have cleared as much clutter from your home as you can- or as all members of the family will agree to. We are looking at moving to a larger home because of lack of storage space but I don't know if we should simply try harder to get rid of things. (2 kids, 1250 sq. feet home) Thanks!

Thanks for your comment ... Not sure exactly what you mean by "sponsors" ... but Geralin and Susan didn't pay or give anything other than their time in exchange for being featured on the site. In an effort to support local moms and what they are doing, I feature local moms every Monday and, from time to time, feature tips from local "expert moms" like Susan and Geralin on Wednesdays. None of these moms ever pay for the features. As my own policy, I also don't accept free things from them as well (with the exception of books for review).

Just trying to support and provide information for local moms ...

What causes clutter? Visit our sponsors... err, the folks we interviewed, I mean, to find out.
