Pullen Park's carousel will be closed Monday and Tuesday. And the city also is announcing some changes for overflow parking.

Here's the latest:

The carousel will be closed Monday and Tuesday for the construction of a new wheelchair ramp to allow easier access for some patrons. The installation will take two days. The carousel will reopen Wednesday, April 18.

I've heard a lot from readers about their concerns about the amount of parking at Pullen. Anticipating even more traffic to the park in the spring and summer, the city's parks department has some changes for overflow parking.

Additional parking on the weekends is available at the Cates Avenue Parking Deck on the campus of N.C. State. Visitors can use the pedestrian walkways from the deck to access Pullen Park. During the week, overflow parking is available until 5 p.m. at the Hunt Drive Soccer Fields on the Dorothea Dix campus.

Park visitors should not park along Western Boulevard as it is not allowed by city code.

And just so you know ... there will be some road closures around Pullen Park on Sunday morning. Click here (and scroll down a bit) for more information.
