See, touch animals at N.C. State's Farm Animal Days

This very popular annual event gives children a chance to see and touch farm animals and learn about agriculture. There will be tractors on display, along with an assortment of farm animals. Kids can see cows, horses, chicks, turkeys, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats and rabbits and touch some of them.

The event is designed for school field trips and is best for preschoolers to first graders. But families are welcome to go on their own as well.

I've been a couple of times and we've always had a great time. The animals and ice cream are a hit, but there's always a line to climb up on the tractors too.

Farm Animal Days is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, to Friday, March 30. It's held rain or shine. Event organizers say the least busy times are 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. I definitely agree. I usually get there as soon as it opens. By the time we leave, about an hour or so later, it's very busy. (And, yes, I wish there were weekend hours too).
