I feature local moms here on Go Ask Mom every Monday. And I always love to update readers on what they are up to.
So I'm happy to share that Heather Wray, who I wrote about last year, is getting ready for the third annual NFWalk for North Carolina to raise money and awareness of neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that affects the skin and nerves and causes tumors to grow spontaneously on the nerves. Wray's son Ethan has the disorder.
The event is May 5 at Lake Benson in Garner. Registration is $20 for ages 13 and older and $10 for kids under 13. Over the last two years, the NFWalk has raised almost $70,000 for neurofibromatosis research.
There will be a 5K run starting at 9 a.m., along with a fun run and walk starting at 9:15 a.m. The event also will feature music, games, face painting, a silent auction, a raffle and more.
