Pullen's kiddie boats closed for maintenance

Posted January 31, 2012

I was at Pullen Park with my two-year-old Tuesday and noticed that its kiddie boats are closed.

Richard Costello, the city's recreation program director and, as I like to call him "Pullen Park guy," tells me that they are closed as part of Pullen's ride maintenance schedule. During the next couple of weeks, the boats and pool will be cleaned. Some other preventative maintenance work will be completed too. Pullen Park Pullen Park

The boats are scheduled to reopen by Feb. 17.

Yes, closed for two years, open for two months...now they shut down the ride to inspect it. Hmmmm... What next? Maybe they'll need to dismantle the merry-go-round!

Hi all ... just asked for a bit of clarification from the city. But they did do a complete overhaul and brought the boats up to code while the park was closed. From what I understand, this is regular maintenance/upkeep that needs to be done for operating rides from time to time ...

Will update if I get better clarification ...

In a normal year, this would be winter time and they'd be closed anyway.

I had the same thought! They couldn't get this done while the park was closed? Oh well.

I don't understand why this wasn't done when the place was closed for a few years?? They have only been open a few months and now they are closing this attraction? I am sure this is frustrating for the folks that are going there expecting to see all of the refurbished attractions operating.
