Walnut Creek Wetland Center

Sherry Graham, director of Raleigh's Walnut Creek Wetland Center, tells me she'd love for a few more preschoolers to sign up for this month's Preschool Swamp Romp.

The Jan. 17 program for parents and their kids ages 3 to 5 includes a craft, engaging activity and a guided walk through the wetland. It's aimed at awakening your preschooler's sense of wonder.

The regular program is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Jan. 17. Other swamp romps are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Feb. 7, Feb. 21, March 13, March 27, April 10 and April 24. Each week features a different nature-inspired theme. The fee is $3. Registration is required.

I featured the wetland center, which is near downtown Raleigh, last year. It's a great place to drop in for a visit. They also have many other programs for kids from preschoolers to adults.

For details or to register for this month's swamp romp, go to Raleigh's RecLink or give Graham a call at 919-831-1960.

We had a great time today on our swamp romp! We talked about where the animals go for winter and went on a nature walk. Thanks again Sarah.

Another great program is the kids nature night. It is every month on a Friday from 5-8pm.You drop the kids off(ages 5-10 I think)to see a movie with popcorn,do a craft and take a walk in nature. My kids go a lot.You can sign up on Reclink under Nature.

Just heard from Sherry ... the program is set through the summer, but she'll switch up the days in the fall so more kids can attend.

this really sounds like my 4 year old would enjoy this. is there a reason that they are all on tuesday mornings? could they possibly switch it up a little to allow more kids to attend?
