Lynda Loveland: She's baaaack!

There may be just 17 days till Christmas, but the countdown is over for my mom to arrive! If you read one of my earlier blogs, you’ll know that I’m very close to my mom and I love love love her being here.

My youngest daughter and I went to pick her up at the airport Tuesday. On the way, my mind was racing with all the things I wanted to talk to her about. Then I realized not only was my mind racing, so was my vehicle. Had to slow ‘er down a bit. I didn’t want to spill that vase full of flowers sitting in my lap. What a sight that would be for a trooper.

Once we got home, all I heard till bedtime was a chorus of three voices saying “hey Oma color with me”, “Oma look at this” and “Oma play Beyblades with me!"

The kids were sooo excited to see her. So was I.

Granted I’m not a kid anymore, but there were things I wanted to show and tell her as well! I couldn’t get a word in and it was killing me! I wanted to show her all the garlic bulbs I planted and how well they were doing. I wanted to show her the tricks I taught Bindi. And I wanted to show her the new bag I bought for her.

It’s amazing how easy it is to revert back to childhood when your mama is around. Hey, whatever makes you feel young. I’m just glad she’s back.

Lynda is the mom of three and co-host of Mix 101.5 WRAL-FM's Bill & Lynda in the Morning. Find her here on Thursdays.

Willie_11 My thoughts are with you.. I know your mother will have regrets one day when she needs you. I understand what you are saying because when my child's father died they basically wrote us off and we don't exist until I call them. They are so involved with the other kids life and never can make time for mine but that is ok with me because she has my family. I look at it when people don't want anything to do with me that is ok I will pray for them and say one day you will need me and I will not be there... I have learned not to dwell on it because it just made me fill with hatred and bitterness and that is not me so I put it away.. My heart goes out to you and enjoy your life and don't worry about things just remember you are no the only one that has these problems with family...

Enjoy all these moments with your mom. My mother is sinking into dementia and I miss so many things we used to do and talk about. My mother has been blessed with five grandchildren and then seven great grandchildren. So, we have many wonderful memories but we are never ready to accept that the woman we knew and loved is no longer here with us in mind and spirit! Take lots of pictures and write down lots of stories.....

Makes me miss my sweet little mama. We lost her on 8/8/08. She truly was my best friend!

Don't kid yourself everyone, if you didn't have kids, the Grandparents wouldn't want to visit. That's been my experience.

awww willie do you need a hug?

That's nice. My Mom really doesn't give a hill of beans about us and we invite her to come and visit all the time but she would rather stay at her house and take care of her crippled boyfriend. Don't kid yourself everyone, if you didn't have kids, the Grandparents wouldn't want to visit. That's been my experience.

You are very blessed. I am glad you and your children spend the quality time with her. If more people would take the time to be a family the world would not be like it is today.. I hope you and your mom have many many more years to spend together.. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas!!!

Its wonderful that you, your Mom and your family have that special relationship. My Mom passed a few years ago, and there are things that I would love to talk to her about now. My daughter and I are also close in spirit and heart, but she and her family are in Florida and I don't get to see them near often enough. Have a great holiday. Enjoy every second with your Mom and family during this blessed Christmas season.

You are so fortunate and blessed to have a loving, close relationship with your mother. Your children know and see this and will take this with them their whole lives also. God Bless you and your family !

Yay good moms! I am very lucky - my mom lives just an hour away, comes to visit her grandson weekly, and is both wise and tactful. It's wonderful.

You're very lucky to have your Mom. I lost my Mama 21 years ago and I miss her everyday!
