Help a Mom: Seeking great holiday restaurants

Posted November 29, 2011

I received this email from a mom, who is new to the area. She is looking for great holiday restaurants to take visiting family to.

Here's what she wrote:

Being new to the area, we're always looking for a festive and holiday restaurant to go to with family from out of town. Angus Barn is so beautifully decorated and festive, but we've done that. Any others around the Cary, Raleigh areas that are done up like The Barn during the holidays?

Do you have any suggestions? She's looking for restaurants in the Raleigh and Cary areas, but please share if your favorite is elsewhere too.

Peak City Grill in downtown Apex does a great Christmas Eve dinner. Great for family and friends and downtown Apex is always beautifully decorated and fun to walk down the streets to look at all of the shops and decorations.

The Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill is always very beautifully decorated- and the food is great too!

Flemings at Crabtree is our favorite. We like it better than the Angus Barn and the atmosphere is wonderful. The food and service can't be beat. Be sure and try the Flemings' potatos.

Sullivans in Raleigh is always a great spot, especially around the holidays.

So many great restaurants in our area! I highly recommend Il Palio at The Siena Hotel in Chapel Hill. Well worth the short drive from the Raleigh area. Fabulous Italian menu with fresh made pastas, local meats, cheeses and vegetables. Quite affordable and kids are definitely welcome. Visit their website at www.sienahotel.com and check out the menu.
