After months of delays, Kidzu Children's Museum will open at its new, temporary space on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill next week.
The museum, designed for infants to eight-year-olds, began the move to the new location in May. It's been closed ever since, though the museum has participated in events and offered activities for kids at other locations in the past few months.
The site at 123 W. Franklin St. in University Square will be the museum's temporary home until it is able to move into a much larger space at Wallace Plaza. The museum is raising money and support for that major project now.
Visitors will find the same interactive exhibits at the space in University Square, along with educational programming and free parking, according to its website.
The grand opening celebration is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 18; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 19; and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Nov .20. Kidzu will continue to offer free admission, thanks to a grant from Durham Regional Hospital, on Sundays.
Kidzu is offering some deals on membership for people who join before Nov. 15. Check the website for details.
Glad to have Kidzu back!
